Condensate Pot is a section of pipe (4inch in diameter) installed horizontally at the orifice flange union to provide a large -area surge surface for movement of the impulse line fluid with instrument element position change. It is used to reduce measurement error for hydrostatic head difference in the impulse syphons are intended to protect the pressure gauge from the effect of hot pressure media such as steam and also to the reduce the effect of rapid pressure surges. Condensate of the pressure pressure medium that is collected inside the coiled or U-shaped portion of the siphon prevents direct contact. When first installed the siphon should be filled with water or any other suitable separating liquid.

For steam applications, condensate pots are essential. They are used to condense the fluid upstream of the differential pressure transmitter. Installed at the same height, they allow accurate measurement by maintaining a constant condensate height in the impulse lines above the differential pressure transmitter.

Condensate Pots (also called Seal Pots) are used in the measurement of steam or other vapors for two reasons: One reason is that a level of condensed water is accumulated inside of the pot and maintains a fluid volume for displacement equal to or greater than the volume displacement of the transmitter
