Hastelloy® has outstanding resistance to highly oxidizing and reducing agents, making it a great choice for moderate to severe corrosive environments. It is commonly used for pipes and valves in the chemical processing and petrochemical industries.
Hastelloy alloy is a nickel based alloy. It comes in primarily two groups; one with more molybdenum and the other with more chromium. Both are called the Hastelloy. They are all exceptionally resistant to strong oxidizing solutions and have high durability in reducing agents.
The Hastelloy materials are more expensive than monel due to the composition. Although the primary reason for the cost is the raw material consumption, the production methods for hastelloys are also sophisticated and add up to the price.
